Manchester

Skupski’s view….

After a long and unenjoyable trip back for Spain, Colin and I are heading to The Northern. This holds host to the Aegon Pro-Series Manchester Challenger. We are going into the event with lots of confidence having made another challenger final last week. Even though we came up short in the early hours of Sunday morning we are in good spirits and look forward to working with Louis this week. We are seeded number 2 but have found ourselves with a tough opening match against Colin’s singles opponent Karol Beck and talented lefty Pavel Snobel.

The tournament over the past few years has been very frustrating. The weather has really played a big part in making this more of an indoor event than the final grass court tournament of the year. Playing indoors is good for Colin and I but we do enjoy playing outside at The Northern. I usually get very excited heading up to the club on the Saturday or Sunday. Playing on perfect grass courts which havent been used is a great feeling. The ball bounces so true and you really believe this is how tennis should be played. Having looked at the forecast for the next few days it seems like this year could be a rain free event. Fingers crossed!!

Colin is staying at the official hotel this week. On the other hand I get to stay at home. We dont get to stay at home during many events during a season so this is a nice change. I am excited for some home comforts and a chance to catch up with family and friends having not seen most of them since the summer began. I will blog again later in the week with another update from The Northern.
